Phase 2 is made up of Years 2, 3, and 4.  At Unity this is six classes, with two forms in each year group. The children in this phase are taught in purpose designed classrooms that form part of the new through school building.  This gives the children access to all school facilities of the drama studio, sports facilities, dance studio, refurbished science labs and the food technology rooms.

Our curriculum is a creative, thematic one, that continually evolves to best meet the needs of the children. It is  designed to give children the culture, climate and values our they need to achieve their potential. Our students’ backgrounds, our culture and our climate for learning provide the following drivers that underpin all areas of our curriculum:

  • Ambition - which helps students to build aspirations and know available possibilities for their future lives
  • Understanding of the wider world - which helps students to appreciate the diversity and interdependence of cultures, thinking about the ideas, customs, and social behaviour
  • Resilience - which helps to instil in our students a mind-set that they can continue to learn and grow in all areas of their lives

We believe that children are entitled to a curriculum that allows for success in a variety of areas, balancing academic skills with creative, investigative and collaborative opportunities. Physical and mental wellbeing are both valued and understood by our carefully considered curriculum design.

Spiritual, moral, social and cultural development underpins all of our work in both core and foundation subjects which hold equal importance in our curriculum.

We carefully balance the requirement for pupils to reach national expectations in core subjects with our wider curriculum aims of providing a full spectrum of enriching experiences.
