Our facilities include a Pre-School Room and an Early Years Room (2-3yrs)  - (2 year olds are eligible from the term before their third birthday)

All rooms have direct access to our secure outdoor provision.

All our staff are fully qualified to a minimum of Level 3 and are experienced in working within early years.

Both of our rooms are led by an experienced level 6 Early Years Teacher who delivers high quality teaching and learning within the rooms. They are supported by specialist Early Years Practitioners.

Information will be shared with you on a regular basis and each term we arrange a formal opportunity for you to sit down and discuss your child’s achievements within the 7 areas of learning. We ask you to regularly share your child’s interests and achievements at home to include within their learning journey and home/nursery diary.

Nursery Sessions

Sessions offered are based on parents’ requirements and the well-being of the children. Initially we may offer half days until your child is fully settled into nursery life and will cope with attending a full day.

In addition to our core hours of 8.45am – 3.15pm we can offer extended sessions between 8.00am - 5.30pm* (4.00pm - 5.30pm sessions are subject to significant demand).  These places are limited and need to be booked in advance. We offer places for the 2yr grant which entitles eligible children to 15 hours free per week and the universal free entitlement for 3 year olds of 15 hours per week. We offer 30 hours of childcare. There is also the option to top up these hours. Additionally there is the option of half days and full days which also includes a lunch.

Meals and Snacks

Children have opportunity to have snack both morning and afternoon. Our full day children have a lunch. All our meals and snacks are offered taking into account the healthy eating guidance.

Children attending our extended days will also be offered breakfast. We also have access to drinking water throughout the day and milk at snack times.

Developing self-help skills is an important element of snack and mealtimes and older children are supported to pour their own drinks and scrape and wash plates etc.

Children have the opportunity for a Nursery lunch at a cost of £2 per day or can alternatively bring a healthy packed lunch.

Learning through Play

Experiences offered within our nursery are varied with a balance of adult led and child initiated play which is led by the children’s interests and taking into account the 7 areas of learning within the Early Years Foundation Stage. We offer a structured routine but within that the flexibility to adapt and meet the individual needs of each child is a priority.

The children access group and individual one to one work and have an environment which supports them to fully engage in their play, either on their own or with their peers. The environment is very carefully planned to provide opportunity for quiet time and rest when they need to, space to play on their own and space to play with their friends and in groups. Our outdoor provision is a major part of our environment and learning opportunities are also carefully planned and play can be on a bigger scale than indoors.  We access outdoors everyday as part of our continuous provision and will play in all weathers unless conditions may cause risk to the children. Play is free flow so the children can play inside or outdoors as they wish or may prefer.

We also have opportunity to access our weekly Little Kickers, Tiddly Om-Pom-Poms, Dance Classes & Jo Jingles sessions plus our sensory room and activity room for music and movement style activities. Children are observed on a regular basis as required within the Early Years Foundation Stage.  This information is used to share with parents and identify interests, consider possible new learning opportunities and future experiences that can be offered. These observations are kept in each child’s Learning Journey and observations can also be emailed home through 2 Simple.

Key Person

Each child is assigned a key person; this is a qualified member of staff who will work most closely with your child particularly during the transition process. A display of key groups is located in the nursery and your child will be within one of these. The key person has responsibility for the care of your child, ensuring all of their personal need are met.

Though we arrange regular consultations if you have any concerns or would just like to chat with your key person or room teacher, we have an open door policy and are more than happy to arrange this at mutually convenient times.

Settling In

We have a settling in process which is very important to ensure your child feels confident to be left with us. The process is as follows:

Stay and Play Session (1 hour)  - an opportunity for you to come into nursery to meet our Early Years Professional (EYP) and Early Years Teacher (EYT) and explore our environment with your child.

Settling in Session 1 (pre-booked 45 minute play in nursery, parents must stay on premises for this)

Settling in Session 2 (pre-booked 45 minute play in nursery parents may leave premises if child is happy and all paperwork has been completed)

A review will then take place of how your child is coping. At this stage we may recommend further settling in sessions, re-consider the sessions your child is attending or agree on your child’s start date. This will change from child to child and be based on each individual child’s needs.
