Armistice Day is on 11 November and is also known as Remembrance Day. It marks the day World War One ended, at 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month, back in 1918. Nowadays, people remember those who were lost in the war by holding a two-minute silence and by wearing a red poppy.

Yesterday at just before 11 am representatives from each year group, beavers, cubs and scouts and members of staff took part in a remembrance service. The choir sang a beautiful rendition of Amazing Grace, In Flanders Fields was recited by our head students and  every member of the school community observed a two minute silence.

All week the children have been thinking about those who have lost their lives and carrying out activities to remember them. Every child made their own poppy and we created a field of poppies in the dance studio. Children from nursery right through to Year 11 have been discussing those who have been lost and thinking of ways to show that at Unity We will remember.
