This year's book day was a little bit unusual as some children were celebrating at home and some in school. To ensure that everyone could join in, the children in Years' Reception to 6  had a Bedtime Story Theme and all wore their pyjamas. Even the teachers! There was no snoozing to be had though as everyone worked really hard on their book themed activities. The teachers all recorded stories so that when everyone got home they could choose the bedtime story they wanted to listen to. The children in school enjoyed a hot chocolate whilst listening.

Mrs Mclaughlin tells us about how the day was spent in Year 7-11  "Although done differently this year - World Book Day was a fantastic experience for all at Unity Academy Blackpool. The day was filled with competitions, including our much-loved 'Design a Door' challenge reimagined! No sneaky peeks allowed of the entries yet though!
Pupils were also treated to some special guests who made an appearance to read them Bedtime Stories - Hairy Maclary and Mary Poppins included. The students were brilliant as always, and were only too happy to show off how well they knew their teachers in the 'Guess the Bookcase' challenge. Finally, we gave them the chance to the really test their book knowledge with a Big Bonanza Quiz - only serious contenders need apply!
The best part of my role will be looking over everyone's contributions. Entries for all of the competitions are due in by the 11th March, with winners announced on the 15th - some pupils will be getting a lovely surprise back into class!"
A fantastic day had by all!
