Our Year 8 students were part of an exciting opportunity recently when they took part in a book quiz. The quiz, which took place on the 22nd February 2016, wasn’t just an ordinary book quiz. In fact, the quiz was taking place at schools all around the country in order to attempt to break the current Guinness World Record for the ‘Most people participating in simultaneous literature quizzes (multiple venues).’

All 45 students involved in the event thoroughly enjoyed taking part and came up with some imaginative team names for themselves such as The Goonies and The Disney Amigos. The proud winners for our school were Team MockingJay, who were awarded a prize for their efforts. All students got a certificate for taking part in the attempt and it was announced on World Book Day (Thursday 3rd March) that the attempt was SUCCESSFUL!

Huge congratulations to all students involved, you helped break a Guinness World Record!

Reading Champion and Teacher Lauren Gunn, said: “Being part of the World Book Day record attempt was a fantastic opportunity for some of our students and a great way to get them talking about a range of famous books and authors. At Unity, we are trying to create a 'buzz' around reading and events like this really help. They thoroughly enjoyed it and have actually asked for a smaller version to take place on World Book Day, which has now been prepared.”
