EYFS, KS1 and KS2 Music focuses on developing pupils' singing and listening skills, as well as learning to play glockenspiels, recorders, ukuleles and handheld percussion. As an all through school we are keen to broaden student’s experiences of music and therefore invite professional musicians to perform in lessons and assemblies, including Travelling by Tuba.

KS3 focuses on developing instrumental skills on keyboards, guitars and percussion. Topics which pupils explore include Baroque, Classical, 21st Century, World and Popular Music. Students have the opportunity to learn strings, woodwind, brass and percussion instruments free of charge with our team of peripatetic tutors.

Throughout KS3 and KS4 the Music Department offers a wide variety of extra-curricular activities catering for all abilities and tastes. We have a Choir, Strings group, Guitar group, Samba group and various Rock bands. Performing Arts Showcases regularly feature group and solo performances from students who have peripatetic lessons and clubs in school. Unity Academy also supports the Blackpool Music Service's 'First Beat Orchestra' and we encourage students to get involved in all the events they offer including the Annual Christmas Concert and Schools Alive.
