CEIAG Team Biographies 

At Unity Academy, we have a whole academy approach to careers with all staff supporting the delivery of CEIAG through the pastoral system and within curriculum areas. In addition, we have a designated CEIAG team who coordinate and monitor the delivery of our Unity Academy Careers Programme:


Mr N Howell, Assistant Designated Safeguarding Lead / Strategic Careers Lead

Mr Howell comes to Unity Academy from one of the largest GFE Colleges in England which covers FE, HE, Apprenticeships and T-Levels, Mr Howells back-ground has been Safeguarding, PSHE and Careers for the best part of 20 years. Nathanael comes to Unity with a wealth of knowledge in post 16 education barrier to learning removal and safeguarding. Mr Howell is currently studying for his level 7 National Professional Qualification, Mr Howell is also a governor of Safeguarding for a local school in his spare time. Mr Howell has strategic oversight of our Unity Academy Careers programme.



Mr Anthony Wood, Senior Leadership for Admin & Planning 

Mr Wood has been at Unity for over 25 years. Mr Wood has been a custodian of our school and local community. Mr Wood has served our community and even taught a few current Unity colleagues and students' parents.    
Mr Wood makes sure that all processes and events are planned compliantly and the logistics of the school move forward safely.

Miss Rachael Forrest, Teacher Assistant / Targeted Tuition Fund

Miss Forrest joins Unity Academy as Teaching Assistant and works closely with Unity students who have a SEN need.  Miss Forrest is passionate about supporting young people and building confidence, resilience and inspiring them. Miss Forrest has worked in education for a number of years, and has an educational background in electronic engineering and manufacturing.
Miss Forrest is a field trip leader trained and currently works with our targeted Transition fund which looks at and supports our students who could be at risk of becoming NEET post 16 (Not in education, employment or training) 



Mrs Claire Baker, Unity Academy Independent Careers Advisor 

Miss Baker is a level 6 qualified careers practitioner, for over 25 years Miss Baker has worked with young people and adults offering impartial careers, education, information and advice and guidance on careers that suit their likes and abilities.  Claire is very passionate in being able to help individuals achieve their ultimate aspiration by advising them on their options and pathways to take. She has excellent relationships with all of our local colleges, apprenticeship providers and employers.  Miss Baker offers a variety of services to pupils at Unity Academy that include individual CEIAG appointments, help with CVs and letters of application.

 

Heads of Year / Assistant Heads of Years / Primary-Subject Leads

Each of our Academic Heads of Year, Primary Leaders and Subject Leads take an active role in the delivery of CEIAG. This includes the year 9 option process, year 10 college taster days, mock interview events, Year 11 careers events.  In addition, all years in secondary and primary will have face to face employer interactions and workshops throughout each academic year
