To help develop your practical skills you will have the opportunity to choose from the following hair and beauty units;
- Plaiting or plaiting and twisting hair
- Shampoo and conditioning hair
- Hand or skin care and nail art application
- Themed face painting, fantasy and basic & photographic make-up
- Styling hair and dressing hair
- Salon reception duties,
- Health and safety and working with others in the hair and
- beauty sector
- Create and maintain retail displays
- Head massage service

Progression
The qualification provides a solid progression route for the Level 2 award which is taught in Years 10 and 11.
How will I be assessed?
The qualification is assessed by assignment which covers all learning outcomes. Assignments are externally set by VTCT, internally assessed and moderated by the centre and externally moderated by VTCT.
Specific requirements
There is no formal entry requirement to access this qualification and no prior knowledge, skills or understanding are required, however, an interest in hairdressing and/or beauty therapy is desirable. This qualification has been developed for learners aged 13-16. Learners who successfully complete this qualification will be prepared to continue their studies at Level 2.
