Being able to speak another language becomes ever more important in the 21st century as opportunities for working abroad or for a multi-national company are more common. All students learn French from year 3 onwards at Unity so that they already have skills and a positive attitude in the language when they enter the secondary phase.

A variety of interactive resources is used to develop reading, writing, speaking and listening skills.

At the end of Year 8, students have the option to continue with their study of French, culminating in a GCSE qualification at the end of Year 11.

During their secondary phases at Unity Academy, students have the opportunity to participate in successful and popular cross-phase trip which travels to northern France. This gives students the opportunity to practise and extend what they have learnt in class as well as giving them a taste of French culture.
