Behaviour Policy
The Behaviour policy at Unity College Blackpool is a statement of good practice that covers all aspects of school that contributes to the development and maintenance of good behaviour and a positive ethos towards school.
Our mission is to create a caring community. As part of this, we aim to provide the right climate for living and learning and we have stated our values that inform the way we will manage behaviour. These are on display in every classroom.
Dealing with misbehaviour is a fundamental responsibility of all teaching staff, as is the imposition of sanctions when necessary. Sanctions should complement the range of positive rewards and reinforcements used to encourage pupils to behave well.
The establishment of good discipline is a central part of our work. Within this value system, teachers will use their professional judgement to manage behaviour in the classroom.
Examples of unacceptable behaviours are:
Anti-social behaviours eg bullying, cheating, lying, incitement
Illegal behaviours eg stealing, taking or dealing in drugs
Health related behaviours eg smoking, consumption of alcohol
Anti-institutional behaviours eg lack of respect for/defiance of authority, non-compliance with school rules, not wearing correct uniform, rowdy behaviour on corridors, disrupting the work of the class, and misbehaving on the school bus
Anti-achievement behaviours eg not completing homework, arriving late to school/lessons, work avoidance, truancy
Malicious allegations against staff or pupils
When pupils comply with the school rules they will be rewarded. These rewards will include:
Verbal praise for good behaviour
Coffee morning with Headteacher
Pupil of the month for behaviour
Merit Awards
Merit Vouchers
Activities Week
Time on task with rewards
