Canoeing
After our first activity Gorge Scrambling two weeks previous we knew that it would be tough to beat the enjoyment factor after such a positive response from the children but this was completely different and the kids had to use plenty of other kinds of skills.
This time we decided to take the ferry over to Coniston from Just south of Bowness-on-Windermere which was a different experience.
We arrived at Summitreks at 1.30pm and got kitted up in wetsuits and waterproofs. We also got given a paddle/ore each.

2pm we arrived at the shore of lake Coniston and the instructors Kevin and Luke explained that we would be tying two canoe’s together with 4 in one and 3 in another as the weather conditions weren’t ideal this would assist stability in the choppy water.

The next hour and a half or so was spent battling the conditions of the lake and we had to use plenty of teamwork and communication to achieve our goals.

We stopped off twice for activities on land. The second of which the kids particularly enjoyed jumping off the jetty into the lake displaying all kinds of flamboyant moves!
For the final task we would use a sheet and pole and with wind finally behind us would attempt to sail back to land again we had to use a lot of hard teamwork to achieve this.

Again the children excelled and we look forward to our next outing which will be Rock Climbing.
