Beacon at the Cambridge Roadshow
On the 16th March Unity College Blackpool united with four other local high schools, to take part in an event organised by Magdalene College, Cambridge, held at Everton Football Club.
This Aimhigher event was attended by some of our year 10 students, with the aim of overcoming barriers to learning and raising the aspirations and attainment of our students. The event provided an opportunity to find out more about education beyond the age of 18, student life at university and the benefits of further study.
Students followed a structured timetable of events that included a talk that demystified Cambridge, lectures in Law and Biology, stadium tour, Q&A session with Cambridge students, a talk from Rachel Brown – member of the Women England Football Team and a session that compared Cambridge to other city universities.
The day ended well with goody bags and certificates for all.
