Unity Academy is celebrating the culmination to an amazing first year as a sponsored Academy. As September approaches, work is finishing on the complete transformation of the school’s facilities, a 9.5 million pound investment. As Blackpool’s only all-through Academy providing education from Nursery to year 11, it has achieved its highest ever GCSE results compared to the predecessor schools seeing a remarkable 13% increase in its headline figures compared to the previous year.

Mr C. Lickiss, Principal said “We are all very pleased with this large increase in the school’s KS4 performance. In our first year as Unity Academy, we have achieved record results at both KS2 and KS4. These significant improvements are testament to the hard work and commitment of both our students and staff, and the support from both parents and partners, in particular our sponsor, the Fylde Coast Academy Trust. This gives us an excellent platform to build upon as we strive to further improve in the coming academic year.”

Kayla Jenkins obtained the our highest results this year, along with Ian Hathaway (both pictured above).

Charlotte McGraffin (pictured below right) also excelled, seen below ringing home to spread the good news!

Another outstanding set of results given the circumstances was achieved by Santy Correa (pictured below left). Due to recently being diagnosed with leukemia and having to battle against such an awful life-threatening disease during the exam period. He has certainly done himself, his family and our Academy proud.

Stay tuned for lots more on this inspiring story, coming soon!
